Just for a bit of fun, I thought I'd ask your opinion on which is the best looking of the current sport bikes. Just about every bike somone has said 'that's an ugly bike', so let's see what the consensus is.
I'm only asking which one looks the best, nothing more.

(For me it's a close call between the KTM, the Kwaka and Beemer ... and I'm giving it to the Kwaka - tragic I know).

Yes, ignore performance or price, just the 'looks'. You don't have to go off these pics, some of them might not present the bike in it's best light ... I'm sure you've all seen better pics and you'd be familiar with your favourite :)

Love the new R1 Followed by the RC8-R
The 08 Blade. If anything they all look quite similar what with headlamp and fairing arrangement. The only reason I like the blade more is because it's curves afford it a slightly sexual appeal insofar that it invoked the part of my brain that identifies with curves. ;)

the Red 1198s looks better than the Black one with that new frame colour... not as nice as the Black 1098s...

I like the current ZX10R shape
Ducati followed by rsv4 for me. A lot of this bikes are damn ugly this year. For 600 it's 675 followed by r6 (but I'm biased).

Candy Blade with Carbon bits :drool:
The Duc. The 1098/1198/848 shape is porn :ayyy:
The KTM looks like it was made by origami :dohsmiley: and am I the only person in the world who doesn't like the look of an MV? Everything except that headlight looks nice enough but it just looks like it needs braces to keep the chin in line :confused1:

R1, then Duc then Ninja. The rest have the odd good feature or two but one feature does not make a complete bike. e..g.Love the RC8 arse end but that front looks like a giant sheet of cardboard.
MV looks sexy from 3/4 view front or rear but looks like smashed crab from any other view.
That beemer looks like um.....um.... Well it doesn't look like a contemporary sports bike that's for sure.
Suzuki lost the plot stylewise after the K1-K4 Gixer thou's. Those twin pipes are bulky and ugly as sin.
The RSV4 just doesn't do it for me quite the same as the original RSV1000R did. The back end is just too angular and stumpy for the front.
Buell? Ha ha hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahaha hahaha haha ha ha ha. Couldn't have picked a worse colour scheme for the pic. Wooden spoon is between that and the Bavarian smashed crab.
Last but not lease is the Honda (I rate it 4th) looks like sex from some angles but looks plain weird from others. If I had to see one in the flesh every day I'll change my mind but for now its too drastic of a change compared to previous model blades of the last 4 or 5 years.

After 92 votes I think we can come to some conclusions re best looking bike:
1) Ducati 1198S
2) Aprilia RSV4
I'm only mentioning these two, as they stand out head and shoulders above the rest.
I am surprised that the BMW rates so low, but I guess this is because I only asked which one is the nicest. I expect if I had asked members to rate them from 1 to 10, and added the points we might have gotten a more accurate result.
Thanks everyone :ayyy:

Just stirring, i don't see it. I think the test would be if one rode past would you need to look twice to tell the difference.

Gotta say, I don't really see it either. Although one thing is for certain, most bikes are beginning to look alike, maybe this is what makes the Ducati stand out? And maybe the ZX10R?

Maybe the reason is simple, aerodynamics plays a major part in the modern era of sports bikes & you would think there is only so many shapes/angles they can use for the best possible aero package.
Captain
25-05-2009, 12:33 AM
You're probably right zRoYz. On that, I am surprised that the new blade has such a blunt nose, I would have thought that a sharper one (like this beemer) would have been better. Then again, who knows how the rest of the bike effects it?

After seeing the amount of holes drilled in Stoners fairings in the last round, Ive wondered about aerodynamics somewhat..

I would have thought the way to reduce drag was to have a pointy nose ...
http://www.istockphoto.com/file_thumbview_approve/2384689/2/istockphoto_2384689-military-fighter-jet.jpg
And it is; but there's more to it than just low drag:

Holes drilled were for crosswind i believe... Always doing it on them 125 and 250's i believe.....
funny as you'd think a team would have a set of predrilled and painted ones ready to bolt on, rather than the last minute black and decker job....

Tell you what Captain....
Keep the results written down, lock this thread then in a week or so , do the "If you were given a bike for a trackbike, which one would you choose", then do same for "given a roadbike"... then "If I had to have one bike to commute on...track days and Weekend blast....which one."
Get our own RATS masterclass going........ Bragging rights to the winner... LOL

Duc for me, if it was the older Buell it would have got my vote.
Don't like the massive exhaust on the 1000's that Kawak, Suzuki and others are having to do just to me EU regs. The Augusta would be my second pick but it is old now.
