Bayliss has said for a while that he would be available to Ducati and riding some of their bikes this year as has Ducati themselves.
No surprises that he is testing for them and it doesn't mean any return to bikes.

no way it will never happen
I wouldn't rule it out...proven he's up to it.
Question is, who'd play second fiddle :confused1:
You could see the podium now....casey cry'in over some move and Baylis giving him a bitch slap :lmao: ...he strikes me as a no bs rider :ayyy:
Unfortunately, contractual agreements, sponsors, target markets etc and Baylis's will, imo are hurdles that are unlikely to see this occurr :(

Of all the photo's of TB why would they use one of him not even looking at the camera. I doubt it will mean a return to racing, i'd be happy with it but wont be crossing my fingers in anticipation. Two Aussies in a team would be good though.

It would be good to see :)but i don't think he will race a bike again , even a gp bike , and if he did he doesn't want to show hayden up , because he would.

Bayliss slings a leg over the Desmosedici GP9 at Mugello
Troy Bayliss completed his first day of testing on board the Desmosedici GP9 at Mugello today alongside regular factory test rider Vittoriano Guareschi.
It was a first outing for the Australian on a MotoGP bike since the final round of 2006, when he followed up his second World Superbike title by competing in the final Grand Prix of the season at Valencia, scoring a sensational one-two for Ducati with victory ahead of his team-mate Loris Capirossi.
Today was also Bayliss' first taste of an 800cc MotoGP machine and his first track action of any sort since ending the 2008 WSBK title-winning season, and his legendary racing career, with a double race victory at Portimao.
"This is literally the first time I've ridden a motorcycle since we unveiled the 1198 after the end of last season at Portimao", said the Australian rider.
"It was nice to shake off a bit of rust and with Mugello being such a physical circuit it was a good workout!
"The last time I rode a GP machine was at Valencia, which was the 990cc, but the 800cc isn't exactly lacking power and I just spent today getting a feel for it.
"I can't wait to get back out there tomorrow and on Thursday and hopefully by the end of the session I'll be able to give some useful feedback to Filippo (Preziosi)”.

Because he doesn't want to drag it on the ground from the extreme lean angle.:ayyy:

Also that's not his usual race suit, is it? Or his helmet? Do you reckon they would make him a special one just to 'test-ride'?
It's getting publicity, so maybe they would. How cool would it be to see him in motoGP ... even if just for one season?

I am pretty sure at the end of last year there was mention of Bayliss signing on with Ducatti as a test rider, he retired from competitive riding but you cant keep him off a bike for too long
He's just preparing to hand Rossi's own ass to him :ayyy:

Yep all new, Duc love him to death & know people also love him so supplying him with gear just for his riding on the GP9 is a no brainer as they know it will generate publicity & they don't want him looking shabby.
The respect he would have received from duc after being shafted from motogp team, then going to Honda but saying nothing bad about duc spk's volumes of the man. Then coming back to duc in SBK & winning why wouldn't they.

I guess much would depend on his lap times now, wouldn't it? Just say his lap times are much faster than Hayden's .... just say. Then what? I guess it'll lead to nothing if he's truly retired, then again he wouldn't be the first to be enticed back one way or another ...
A lot of 'ifs' though :lmao:

If those pics are of his first time on a bike in months and hes just getting a 'feel' for the bike, imagine how he will ride once he is comfortable on the thing!!:notworthy::notworthy:
I dont think he will race again because he said he wont and something about him makes me feel he meant it.:crysmiley:Sad cause I'd love to see it. Maybe he will do a one off guest ride, like that year he won SBK. That would rock:mod_smilie_rockwoot:mod_smilie_rockwoot

Pretty sure Arlen Ness would make him leathers to suit whatever bike he was riding and Ducati would want him in leathers that match the team sponsors.
The helmet is the same design he wore at the last round in Portimao bar the Marlboro sticker that isn't a Marlboro sticker.

From MotoGP.com:
Desmosedici testing concludes positively for Bayliss
Thursday, 14 May 2009
The test session that saw Troy Bayliss ride the Desmosedici GP9 together with official test rider Vittoriano Guareschi has today concluded at the Italian track of Mugello.
http://i224.photobucket.com/albums/dd137/Ballmead/n498842_Bayliss_01_original.jpg
Bayliss enjoyed his time on track and has got back into the riding, six months after his retirement from Superbike racing and having not ridden a bike since then. On leaving the Tuscan track this afternoon he declared he was satisfied with his pace after having had only three days to ride. 1m51.2, the best time registered by the Australian this week, is a very respectable time, also considering the fact that the MotoGP 800cc machine was totally new to him. Official GP test rider Vittoriano Guareschi also recorded a similar fastest time of 1m51.4 during the three useful track days.
“I’ve had three good days during which I’ve felt like a rider again", said a smiling Bayliss. "It didn’t take long to get back into it but, before anyone gets any ideas, I will also say that I’m happy to be heading back to the airport and towards Australia and home this evening: I have no intention of returning to racing! Having said that, I have had fun and I hope at the same time that I’ve been of use to Filippo (Preziosi). We worked each day on the bike and each day I was able to push harder, until I started to record some respectable times. Now I’ll stay home for a while but later in June or July I’ll be back in Europe for a few weeks. I will probably test the bike again during that time, I don’t know exactly when, but I am very happy to play a part in this project!”
“Working with Troy has been useful because he has a very different riding style to Vittoriano” commented Filippo Preziosi, "and so it’s been interesting and beneficial to hear his impressions of the GP9 also. We worked on chassis set-ups that are pretty different from those which we usually use and the results were promising although we need to look at this further. Congratulations to Vittoriano who is in great shape right now! After his excellent results in the Jerez Time Attack, he has also recorded his best ever time at Mugello this week with a 1m51.4s. We are proud to have such a diligent and fast test rider and that we can count on Troy’s great experience to continue to improve our bike.”

Sorry , I no I should look it up ...but im lazy, Was that stoners race pace or qualifying ? Be scary if that was qualifying times , be interested to see some race distance times vs Troy consistent times..wonder whre he would have featured ? Biggest shame of all I guess if he is still good enough to compete-I for one would donate to get him on bike :mod_smilie_rockwoot
