He did, and that's the excuse he got: "Someone must have forgotten. Sorry!" at least he only had to wait till "after lunch" and it was ready to go. It was good thing he went to pick her up at 10am or he would have had to wait a looong time! Also lucky it was so loose he had trouble on the first 50m out of the parking lot.

then use your friend EBAY or relevant websites to see if you can get it cheaper.....
you'll be surprised what ebay can provide and the prices are bloody awesome!!!!
i only buy what i cannot find on ebay or websites.... all this spare money allows me to buy the best i can afford plus it alos allows me to buy extra bits and pieces for the motorcycle!!!

Should a friend/fellow rat or both ask me what I think of their work, that's what I'll say. Nothing personal, especially because I've always referred to the shop and not him... but if he wants to make jokes about someone looking like a terrorist I'm cool with that too, just man up and take the joke back when they fire back.
Nothing personal Yarnie. I'm sure you're a good bloke, I just have had a few bad experiences with the shop you work for mate... and until I start hearing some good ones about it I doubt you or anyone else will be able to change my opinion.

i buy most of my stuff from my local bike shop, cause i like the service (Battyes Bikes at Menai) if they dont have it they can get it, if I dont like it or the price I go e2thebay brothers!
support local when you can I reckon,
small shops = more personal service and decent price if you buy regulalry
large shops = (IMO) mostly shite service, reasonable prices but no personality.....
ebay = cheap as chips, no personality and no guarantee, but I am an ebay addict!

other places were selling it for $800 on special!!.... go figure!

Been to all the shops mentioned here, and it really depends on the mood there in. Some staff can be very helpfull, some think there cool cause they work in a bike shop, others think they know every thing and some think there tough cause they put tabasco sauce on there cheese burgers. At the end day i dont really care what shop i go to as long as i get what i want at the best price possible.

I never liked Actions, I always remember how they treated me when I was young, and I have never set foot in there again.
Bikebiz has been good though. MCAS are somewhere in the middle IMO.
I'm all for supporting the 'local industry' but many are not really 'local industry', all they do is buy from overseas, add a mark-up, and sell. The benefits they add is that sometimes it's readily available off the shelf, as well as warranty which can be more convenient (but not always); otherwise if a little wait doesn't bother you, then you're best buying online.

I used to work at MCA so here it is. Knowing most of the ppl that work at the 3 stores heres what ive found out. There are dumbasses and ppl who know their shit, people that care and people that dont give a shit. Service depends on their mood, their previous customer, how you are as a customer and wether you get a dumbass or someone who knows what theyre on about. So at the end of the day its really down to right place at the right time.
And oggy, how many kids you see riding road bikes? None lol, thats the reason why they dont have much road gear. Like you can order it but its gonna take a few days.
Captain
10-05-2009, 11:17 PM
There is a kids gear importer, good stuff too and they will sell to the public ... and whilst their sales are not astronomical yet they are moving stock pretty well. I have had a lenghty conversation with the importer, and she has been dismayed at the lack of interest shown by all the retailers. I guess they simply don't think there is a market.

Seriously if you go to a store for personality you need to get a life.
Do your research then shop around for the cheapest price.
In saying that I went to bikebiz and the young guy in the parts department was excellent.
And at MCA in auburn I have made 2 visits. That store is a blowout, I could give 2 fucks about service they have just about anything you would want. Again I have had dealings with 3 staff members there, one from the mx section, one from the front counter area and one from the boots section. 3 out of the 3 aint bad.

Ladies XXS are still way too big for a 9 yo.... (plus you try getting him to even try on anything labelled as ladies....... lol).
Luckily I'll be taking him around a few UK bike shops in a weeks time, and they have everything you can imagine in every shape and size, so ill get him a jacket there.

Fair enough, but not everyone thinks that way. If I get bad service, I will not buy there, I'd rather pay more somewhere else.

I see your point Cap prompt service with a smile is always appreciated but isn't necessarily required. If something I want is on the shelf at the price I want to pay I could care less who is selling it.
But I also see your point if you have been mistreated. In that case I would avoid that place like the plague.

Captain

I asked them what kids clothing they had, and they pointed me to the womens' section, where I did buy the smallest jacket possible, even though it was still too big. I didn't know of an alternative back then (about 6 months ago). We settled on that one after going through everything, they certainly never said anything about being able to order anything in ... if they in fact can do so - but didn't - then that's another cross next to their name.
I mentioned the fact that kids clothing was available from a local importer/distributor on my subsequent visit, to a salesman who called his 'manager' over, so I think I told the right person. He wasn't really interested.

Often when I go to the shop it's by myself and even though I know roughly what I need, I want a salesperson who tells me about alternatives ect if I request so. I am still very much a novice when it comes to bikes so I expect the bike shop to know more than me, or at least acknowledge when they dont and find an answer for me.
Customer service isn't just about exchanging product for money, if it was then we would all be served supermarket style.

0.50 (today) so its slowly improving. (Ive been over when its been 0.34 so this trip will be good.....).
Most products there are cheaper than Oz, but I find the shops enormous as far as choice goes.
Also you can get the best winter gears there (for obvious reasons).
I found a nice little shop in Seoul, Korea, that sold every brand of leathers imaginable. New with tags. They were the asian distributor for most brands. Was an amazing store.
Brought home some RS Taichi GP1 gloves, they cost about $80.. and an IXS suit, which cost about $400. I wanted the Joe Rocket suit for $100 more, but they didnt have it in my size :(
Would highly recommend Korea for bike stuffs. Also went to the dainese distributor, but the deals were not as great.

All in good fun mate. I was at Frasers just last week, that Bayliss 1098R is the sweetest looking bike around :ayyy:
Still waiting for the famous coffee shop to open up though, there was a little coffee machine but not much more.
no worries...I personally am not fussed on the Bayliss, think the paint job could have been much nicer for an extra $5k.... was the coffee machine working? is hit n miss....
