I don't believe the likes of Rossi would be any good at a race such as the TT. Completely different dicipline. Steve Hislop was an exception. Although, I would love him to prove me wrong, what a race that would be.

+1 Only thing in common are that you use a 2 wheel vehicle... Bit like saying he's blitz all in a Moto-x championship.

I wouldn't be so quick to come to such a conclusion; didn't Rossi learn to ride though the mountain roads of Italy? They don't pussyfoot around in those places.

it'd more what your brain is used to processing, and after 11ty years of GP racing, I doubt he'd be handling the telegraph poles, gutters and houses etc all too well at those speeds. Besides, I am sure he'd have learnt on and used to race scooters around where you're talkin about, not race bikes. haha

Rossi TT update: Guy Martin reckons Rossi would be unstoppable at the TT

TT Hero Guy Martin (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/?&Ntt=Guy%20Martin&N=343&Ntx=mode%20matchallpartial&id=1896&Ntk=site) has tipped Valentino Rossi (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/?Ntt=Rossi&N=343&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=site&Rpp=10&Ns=P_Publication_Date%7c1) to 'disappear into the distance' if he ever raced at the Isle of Man TT (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/?Ntt=TT&N=343&Ntx=mode+matchallpartial&Ntk=site&Rpp=10&Ns=P_Publication_Date%7c1).
The Hydrex Honda (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Manufacturers/Honda/) rider who lapped at 128.89mph was speaking exclusively to MCN following the news that MotoGP (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/sport/sportresults/?&N=343+391) world champion Valentino Rossi will be attending the Isle of Man for this year’s TT.
As broken by MCN, Rossi will be riding a Yamaha (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Manufacturers/Yamaha/) R1 (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/Manufacturers/Yamaha/R1/) in a parade lap on Saturday June 6, but Martin reckons he'd clean-up if the eight-times MotoGP winner ever raced the 37-mile TT course later on in his career.
Martin said: "If Valentino ever did choose to come and race at the TT he’d just disappear. He’d be so quick you’d never even see him.
"It's great he's coming to the TT, but I just hope they take him somewhere he can actually enjoy what the TT is about, somewhere quiet by the track, away from all the VIP stuff where he won’t be bothered by people so he can see what it's all about.
"It'll be great if he comes and really enjoys it, then maybe he’ll contemplate actually racing here maybe towards the end of his career."
Asked how good MotoGP riders are compared to TT riders, Martin said: “Rossi is awesome, but then the TT riders are gods, too. Comparing the TT to MotoGP is like comparing squash to soccer. They both use a ball (or bike), but otherwise they’re completely different."
MCN worked with Dainese (http://www.motorcyclenews.com/MCN/News/newsresults/?Ntt=Dainese&N=190&Ntx=mode%2520matchallpartial&Ntk=site) and the Isle of Man Government to bring Valentino to the Isle of Man. As part of that arrangement MCN will exclusively be reporting on Valentino’s every move from the Isle of Man TT this year.
Rossi has already said that he thinks Guy Martin has big balls for racing so fast at the TT.

+1 Oggy. In my experience, what makes a great sportsperson like Rossi is the mental ability and approach to the sport, and the reason why they can somtimes move from one discipline to another (within reason) and do very well. I would not expect him to be the fastest on his first lap, but given time he's be at the very top.
If these other riders were so hot, don't you think they'd be riding motoGP? Of course they would.

It takes a completely different set of insanity issues to race the TT. 180MPH with brick walls and houses at the side of the (public / bumpy) road.
p.s. Rossi is my fav rider... but I just don't believe he can do it... but am open to being proven wrong.

Another point is the size of the riders... bit like boxiing... Rossi would have to seriously bulk up.... 6 laps of 200 odd corners at 37 miles a lap....
Hislop was a bit of a freak for talent... (crap at business...). Him abf Fogarty are some of the few who were good at the Island..and went on to be good at circuit racing.
