ECRRS press release:

The 2009 East Coast Road Race Series returns to NSW to promote the last ever State Championship round at Sydney’s Oran Park Raceway.

With April being a huge month of motorcycle racing which kicked off early with the new look ASBK in Tassie, the Barry Sheene in Sydney and the Honda Broadford Bike Bonanza, racing in NSW is very much in full swing ,ahead of its return to Camden’s Oran Park GP Circuit on the weekend of 25-26 April.

With the State Championship being NSW’s first modern Road race meeting this year, entries are rolling in for all classes. Title sponsor for the Superbikes Mat Mladin Imports are impressed that the meeting has attracted riders from all across the country. With over $8000 in Trophies and Prizes up for grabs the stage is set for a great weekends racing at Oran Park Raceway.

The Superbikes are attracting a lot of attention with 2008 champion Richard Zaja and regulars John Allen, Grant Hay, Jason Kain, Greg Epis, Michael “Villian”McMillian and Murray Clark all looking to establish themselves as the new “2009 State Champion” in this hotly contested class. With news just in that 2008 Australian Superbike Champion, Glenn Allerton has entered the Superbike class certainly raises the stakes.

Top Superstock riders including Beau Beaton have entered as well as several more ASBK regulars looking for valuable track time prior to their next hit out in the Australian Championship in May.

Defending State champions in Superstock 600, Jason Cullen and in the 125 class, Blake Leigh Smith will have their work cut out when they enter to defend their crowns.

Dunlop and Bridgestone tyre services have confirmed that they will be in attendance over the weekend.

This will be the last NSW Championship for road racing that will be held at this great circuit. Oran Park opened in 1962 and will be closed at the end of this year to make way for a new town “Oran Park Town” with a theme “Imagine what’s down the track”.

The circuit has seen race meetings from Club event’s to World Championships in all aspects of motor sport with future World Champions racing or riders just starting their racing career at this technical circuit.

James,

I got an old 04 CBR1000. I found a link that said it was first released in Sep 2003, so will that qualify for Clubsport 1000?

Also, what classes will be in the same field with the Clubsport 1000?

Cheers

Shane

True, but some of those crusty retro guys will still eat me. let alone the Bears, 5 x 1098s, an MV 1000 and a KTM 1148 ;-). I saw some of those 1098s go round last year, quick is an understatement.
